Ladies Work Remote is free to join and attracts professional women to work together with other women who work from home. Meetups are typically hosted at coffee shops, libraries, and coworking spaces conveniently located in major cities. Meetings are always during normal business hours (9 am to 5 pm).
Organizers select locations based on location near public transportation routes or locations with ample (and preferably free) parking; recommendations from members; and reliable wi-fi (of course). In many cases, this group is much more than coworking – we encourage professional growth, networking and we undoubtedly make new friends!
Ladies Work Remote was created by Liz Shinn in 2017 in Washington, D.C. as a way to bring women who work remotely together on a weekly basis. While she loved working remotely, she was also keenly aware of how lonely it felt at times and figured there were others who felt the same way. After leaving the D.C. chapter in capable hands, she moved home to Atlanta and started the Atlanta chapter in early 2018.
Using the Meetup app, which connects you with the people near you who are doing the things you want to do, Liz began creating half-day meetups at local coffee shops. The group blossomed and now has almost 200 members in Atlanta and 275 members in D.C.
