5 Awesome Remote Work Influencers You Should Follow

For so many of us involved in Ladies Work Remote, the remote work community is more than a bunch of people who spend 80% of their day in PJs. It’s a community of people who have experienced similar challenges and frustrations, have felt the pride of similar victories, and are actively seeking to support each other in this fluid world.

Luckily, there are some members of that wonderfully supportive remote work community who have become voices for the movement, championing the expansion of remote work and giving remote workers fantastic tips from seasoned pros. Whether you’re a remote work newcomer or you’ve been part of this coveted crew for years, we think these five remote work influencers are worth following.

Meghan M. Biro

Meghan has been a leader in remote work for years in multiple capacities. First, she’s the founder of the HR marketing company TalentCulture. Second, Meghan runs an amazing podcast called TalentCulture #WorkTrends. Between Meghan’s podcast and her social media posts, she’s constantly spreading knowledge about remote work and other trends on the cutting edge of the working world.

Jason Fried

If you work from home (or work from anywhere), there’s a good chance that you’ve either used or heard about the highly popular project management software Basecamp, which has been a major help to allow remote teams to collaborate seamlessly. Jason Fried is the mastermind, founder, and CEO of Basecamp. He also wrote the book on remote work - literally. His book is called Remote: Office Not Required and it’s well worth a read. Today, he spreads his expertise on the expansion of remote work primarily through Twitter and LinkedIn.

Tamara McCleary

From 9-5, Tamara McCleary is the CEO of the social media marketing company Thulium. But she also happens to be a pro in the field of remote work and the future of work. Her content is worth a follow for ongoing insights into the changing workforce (especially when it comes to remote work).

Darren Murph

As the current Head of Remote at GitLab (I know, awesome title, right?), Darren Murph specializes not only in remote work as a whole but especially in remote leadership. Read: he’s the one who can teach your boss how to make your remote job a dream job, or who can teach you how to bring own the best in your remote team.

Darcy Marie Boles

Darcy Marie Boles is an established thought leader in remote work, the future of work, and facilitating the absolute best in work culture. She primarily shares her expertise as a special guest on remote work podcasts and webinars, but her social media is the perfect place to stay up to date and catch all her latest appearances.

Say what you will about social media (yes, we might all be a tad more self-conscious about wrinkles since the dawn of the selfie), but it’s provided a fantastic outlet for experts like the influencers above to share their wisdom with the world.

Check out all five of the influencers above, and in the meantime, if you’re in the mood to meet some other members of the remote work community, find a coworking meetup near you today.
